Non-NHS services

At Court Thorn Surgery, our primary responsibility is to deliver high-quality care under our NHS contract. This includes appointments, prescriptions, referrals, and other essential services provided free at the point of use.

However, we also offer a limited range of non-NHS services, which are not covered by the NHS and therefore incur a fee. These include:

  • Medical reports and insurance forms
  • Private letters or certificates
  • Fitness to travel or participate statements
  • Employment-related health checks
  • Holiday cancellation forms
  • Adoption or fostering paperwork
  • Firearms licensing reports

Turnaround Time

Please note that NHS work takes priority. As a result, non-NHS services may take up to 6 weeks to complete, depending on clinical capacity and demand.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Fees & Payment

Fees for non-NHS services are set in line with BMA guidance and are reviewed annually. Payment is required before work is undertaken. A full list of fees is available through our Medical Secretary team.

Important Notes

  • Not all requests can be fulfilled—completion is at the discretion of the clinician.
  • We do not offer services such as passport countersigning or witness statements.
  • Urgent requests may be declined if they interfere with NHS obligations.
