Why we have joined Green Impact for Health

The climate crisis is a health crisis. Extreme weather, poor air quality and colder homes can affect our physical and mental wellbeing. These effects often fall hardest on people who have contributed least to climate change.

Healthcare has an environmental impact too. The NHS accounts for around 4–5% of UK carbon emissions, and medicines, travel and waste all contribute to the footprint of general practice. Taking action can benefit health now: cleaner air, opportunities to walk or cycle, greener spaces and warmer homes can all help communities thrive.

Court Thorn Surgery is proud to have joined the Green Impact for Health Toolkit. It will help our team identify practical changes, track our progress and work towards care that is good for patients and kinder to the environment. We look forward to sharing what we achieve.
